'Tis the Season

The Woman’s Friend Society is delighted to mark the close of its 150th year of Women Empowering Women with History Alive’s family-friendly Holiday production, ‘Tis the Season. Join the lively 19th-century singing school students of Salem and some surprise guests for a packed evening as they explore the history of Christmas traditions in an entertaining exploration of tradition, freedom, and community. 

The performance will transition from an outdoor singing procession from Salem's (newly lit) Christmas tree at Lappin Park, down Essex Street, and onto Hawthorne Blvd, and into the Woman's Friend Society at 12 Hawthorne Blvd. Audience members are encouraged to join this procession (which will start about 0.5 hours before showtime) or go directly to the performance space to sit. Audience members are encouraged to sing along, keep rhythm, and enjoy complimentary punch and cookies with the “students.”
